Internet Is A Safe Haven For Criminals Essay - 2014 Words

Would you believe me if I said that ninety-nine percent of the internet is not accessible to the average web surfer via your standard networks and search engines? The internet is like the ocean, there is more than meets the eye and houses many deep dark back door servers and markets that never reach the surface. Some may not be informed of this part of the internet and question its existence, but the deep and dark webs exist and are hidden for a reason. Parts of the deep web were created for good intentions, and some parts of the deep web give users access to information that can be useful, but the negative aspects that have come from the deep web outweigh the positive aspects, it is shown that the deep web is home to dangerous activity unseen by the naked eye and has become a safe haven for criminals. First a run-down of the internet, the internet is made up of millions of computers all over the world that are digitally connected to each other by cable, fibre or wireless links, in short it is a bunch of networks communicating with one another. You can use the internet to browse websites, communicate with people, download pictures and videos, listen to music or do lots of other amazing things. Every single one of those computers has what is called an IP address, the IP address is the unique set of numbers separated by periods, for example 170.65.240.9, this number set identifies every device connected to the Internet. This IP address is not only for desktop home computers,Show MoreRelatedTaking a Look at Identity Theft705 Words   |  3 Pagestechnology based upon the internet. Romantic Love - 1307 Words

I choose to describe the putative relationship between Adam and Caroline in the movie Untamed Heart. It starts off with Caroline in a just ending relationship where she is hung up on the guy that left her. Her friends call her on it and help her refrain from trying to repair it. This guy Adam is a hard working, quiet, shy, very shy especially around Caroline, because he has a serious infatuation about her. Every thing she does he studies. In the beginning of the movie it starts out that he has a deep infatuation with her. He even follows her home without her even knowing, until one day she was almost getting raped, and he saved her because of his infatuation for her. She bandaged him up in her woman caring way and he couldn t even†¦show more content†¦And, of course, the other s well-beingÂâ€"something you care aboutÂâ€"requires that nonsubservient autonomy too. It seems as they slowly develop this romantic relationship with each other it never could get worse, they have a dded a new entity to the world. Adams infatuation becomes love, or is Adams infatuation love, or does it become a stronger love? I say all of the above, especially stronger because his fantasies come true. And as Caroline finds out he can fulfill her properties she looks for in a man. Until his heart fails once more this time leading to death. With this loss of his life, Caroline is not whole anymore, she is only herself, that identity of them together is gone. Now she will have to go on with a new identity because the one that was created with Adam is no longer there physically. Where Nozicks view comes falls short of the relationship is when he says that infatuation might hold people together until they are stuck, or in love. Because in this relationship only one had an infatuation on the other. I totally agree with Nozicks view that if we are in a good situation there should be no reason to ruin it by trading up. The Dating Game Free Essays

Gwendolyn ‘Wendy’ Stokes Professor Josh McCall Intermediate Composition September 21, 2011 The Dating Game: Spectator or Participant Finding a good man is like trying to nail jelly to a tree. Some people say that all the good ones are either married or gay. As a single heterosexual woman that has been in the dating scene, I must say that statement is not far from the truth. We will write a custom essay sample on The Dating Game or any similar topic only for you Order Now The hunt for Mr. Right is not for the feeble hearted woman. The learning curve on dating has been interesting to say the least. A few months ago, I was approached by a guy that seemed nice enough. We met at a local sports bar. We had mutual friends and he was interested, which was more than I could say for the rest of the male population. He asked if I was on Facebook. As our initial conversation progressed, I realized Facebook was his correspondence of choice. What happened to the old fashion line of â€Å"Can I have your number? † Yet, I decided to trudge forward and â€Å"go with it. † After a few Facebook chats, I agreed to let him visit me at home. He came over and flopped down on my couch. It was awkward but I was determined to find something we had in common. The conversations led to our high school days. As he told story after story, it came to me that he was nowhere near the age I had originally thought. I interrupted him just to ask, â€Å"Exactly what year did you graduate? † His response of â€Å"2001† made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I had been a mother for two years when he was tossing his high school graduation cap in the air. Needless to say, I politely ended his visit with no goodnight kiss included. Another recent dating encounter was the dreaded blind date. As I drove to the agreed upon meeting place all I could think was â€Å"Why do I get myself into these situations? † Yet, the guy I met was really nice. He was extremely attractive and had a great personality. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the conversation flowed from subject to subject without any awkwardness that I had previously experienced. As the gathering was breaking up, he asked if he could have my telephone number and when would be a good time to call. Of course, I gave him my number and tried not sound eager as I said, â€Å"Anytime would be fine. † After he left, I overheard a conversation regarding his astonishingly recent separation from his wife. He was married. My newly elated attitude towards dating was quickly deflated. Transitioning from the â€Å"in a relationship† world into the â€Å"unattached† world is not as transparent as I once thought. I have learned that men in my dating pool tend to be scorned by women from their previous relationships. Those scorned men are almost always cautious to the point of being noncommittal. I have never enjoyed cleaning especially a mess created by someone else. When it comes to love, I just don’t want to work quite that hard. After all, love is supposed to be easy in the beginning, isn’t it? Being single is hard but being with the wrong man is even harder. I have a tendency to believe that Mr. Right will come along when I am least expecting it and then, we can just keep the jelly in the fridge. How to cite The Dating Game, Essay examples

Oedipus Essays - Oedipus, Sophocles, Tiresias, Jocasta, Laius, Irony

Oedipus In the play "Oedipus," irony is used frequently as and as eloquently by Sophocles to the reveal theme of seeking knowledge. Not knowing the King of Thebes, Oedipus, gives speeches on finding the murderer of the King of Laias and how wretched the poor soil will be when the truth is revealed. " Then once more I must bring what is dark to light..., whoever killed King Laios might- who knows?-might decide at any moment to kill me as well. By avenging the murder of the King, I protect myself, (Sophocles 1109). The speech shows how dedicated Oedipus in the pursuit of the murderer and not only the avenge of the King but to save himself. He will not be saving but adding down to his life. Oedipus doesn't realize he is in pursuit of himself. He continues his speech "Moreover: If anyone knows the murderer to be foreign, Let him not keep silent: he shall have his reward from him," ( 1112). With his own words he asks for the truth. But he can't handle the truth, for he has no idea what he is asking for or for whom he is searching for. He also states that he wants the people of his country to outcast the murderer once he is discovered. "I solemly forbid the people of this country, Where power and throne are mine, ever to receive that man or speak to him , no matter who he is..., ( Sophocles 1112). He fears the oracle and wants to do it right by it. But in doing so he will seclude himself from his own people as well as his family. He even prays to God asking him to punish the murderer severely with no avail. "I pray that that man's life be consumed in evil and wretchedness... And as for me, this curse applies no less," ( 1112). He is sure that that the curse doesn't apply to him, so he is willing to announce this publicly. He doesn't know that the old man he killed was King Laois. His only concern at this time is to free the city from sickness. He later announces that the King if he had not been killed would have had children and he would act as Laois' son and avenge his father's death. "I say I take the son's part, just as though I were his son, to press the fight for him," ( 1112). Not only is he going to battle for the murdered King, but wants all the people in the city and damnation will be their reward. As he continues his search for knowledge, Oedipus brings the only man known to know the truth about the prophet Teiresias. Oedipus feels the truth will now be revealed and satisfaction will come to him. "How dreadful knowledge of the truth can be when there's no help in truth...," (1114). This speech from Teiresias is not well interpeted by Oedipus. He is raged. Oedipus wants Teiresias to speak up and tell what he knows but as Teiresias continues to speak the Oedipus is confused and angered. Teresias blames Oedipus for the ruin of the city and finally states that Oedipus is the murderer. Oedipus is furious with Teresias and tells him to leave. The truth is already hard to swallow. Then it all starts coming together. Iocaste reminds Oedipus of the story. "Laisaus was killed By marauding strangers where three highways meet; But his child had not been three days in the world Before the King had pierced the baby's ankles...", (1124). This joys Oedipus' memory of the old man he killed and how he has marks on his heels. Fear overcomes Oedipus. He starts asking Iocaste questions about the King. What did he look like? Was the King escorted at the time of his death? He doesn't want to believe what he is hearing. As Oedipus last resort to seek knowledge he asks the only witness to the crime to come and give his story. The shepherd to the King of Laios is reluctant to speak. But Oedipus insists on the truth. As the truth unfolds, Oedipus is left with nothing but misery. Ah God! It was true! All the prophecies! --Now, O Light, may I look on you for the last time! I, Oedipus, Oedipus, damned in his birth, in his marriage damned, Damned in the blood he shed with his own hand! In seeking knowledge he found the truth. Truth that has brought him to his fate given

Ergonomics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 2

Ergonomics - Essay Example The conveyors also can move the bottles over fixed distances. While the initial costs of installing the conveyor systems are high, this is countered in respect of the fact that they are used to transport high volumes of materials (bottles) within the processing plant. Given that the bottles that are conveyed have rigid surfaces, the conveyors are most appropriate also considering the fixed distances that they cover. In the company, a crane is used to transport materials over restricted area. In our organization, the crane is used to lift heavy materials such as metal blocks that are used in the maintenance of various process machines. The crane is controlled by one person stationed in an enclosure. The crane is applicable in its current setting considering that the flow of materials is low and often intermittent (Raouf, 1995). A conveyor would not be applicable in such a setting. Also, the crane is beneficial in that it offers greater flexibility in respect of material movement. The loads that are handled by the crane come in different shapes, weights and sizes. In the bottling plant, industrial trucks are used to carry pallets that contain empty or filled bottle crates. The trucks transport the materials from the shop floor to the warehouse or store. They are also used to load crates on trucks ready for distribution. The trucks are driven by individual drivers who have to control their movements. The industrial trucks are beneficial in that they have the capacity to transport materials over variable distances. They are more flexible in terms of effecting materials movement compared to the conveyors and crane as noted by Raouf (1995). The materials can be raised or lowered in terms of height as desired, which means that they are very versatile. Also, they are applicable where it would be impractical to install conveyors owing to the intermittence of work. Considering that the conveyors used in the company transport a lot of materials, there is

Unit 2 Discussion Big Ideas in science Research Paper

Unit 2 Discussion Big Ideas in science - Research Paper Example d spent; calories consumed in food; number of glasses of water (or other fluids) drank per day; number of hours spent to rest and sleep; weight decreased (or maintained) through exercise; and pages of books that were read; among others. As such, the measurement units include: seconds, minutes and hours (time); cups (fluids); calories (food); units (hygiene – bar of soap, gram of toothpaste); pounds (weight); dollars (money) and kilometers (distance travelled). Measurement is crucial within one’s daily life to ensure conformity to schedules and to adhere to appropriate units or volume of resources spent or consumed within a budget. It is necessary to avoid exceeding the use of resources or spending beyond what one can control. If measurements were inconsistent, there would be deviations from plans and it would prove to be costly in the long run. For instance, if time and distance to travel is not appropriately measured, one would be perennially late and would take a toll in academic performance. Yes, technology could help perform this measurement differently and with greater accuracy and precision. For instance, one of the wearable gadgets (Nakashima, 2014) could now measure more effectively calories burned after regular exercise. Before, the weighing scale would be used to measure weight before and after exercise and physical fitness activities. In rural or third world countries, other crude tools of measurement could still be used. For instance, time and distance could be measured by observing the sun and counting trees or lamp posts, as needed. †¢Compare your measurement to something used within scientific research. Niche Market vs Mainstream Market

Niche Market vs Mainstream Market A niche market is a focused, targetable portion of a market. Niche markets tend to be small but well defined and specific segments of the population. The market segmentation can depend on the product being sold and can vary based on the targeted audience based on price, quality or differentiation strategies. Since the targeted audiences are usually small and well off, even though there is a specific portion, the profit margins are on the high end. Niche markets do not exist but are made by entrepreneurs, identifying the needs and requirements which are not being met and then aiming to satisfy these with products or services. In a Mainstream Market, products and services appeal to a broader spectrum of the society, and the products and services are readily available to the general public. (Business Dictionary, n.d.). In niche marketing, the company aims to sell to specific people and targets their promotional campaign specifically to the needs of people not being met by mainstream and develops products and services which can be specifically customized and tailored to meet the needs of these individuals, resulting in a strong brand image. However low sales volumes are yielded in this Mainstream Marketing targets all the individuals and profits generated depend upon the quantity of products sold. The company tries to accommodate all the desires of the entire market into one product type. Another advantage being that the producer can close down the market for other competitors. However different marketing mix strategies need to be implemented to reach target audiences as well as multiple products need to be produced. (Rangkuti, 2007) Four successful niche market businesses in United Arab Emirates (UAE) Rolls Royce Motors Owning a Rolls Royce is the ultimate show of wealth and claiming that a person has made it big. The opening of the worlds biggest showroom in Abu Dhabi has also helped to increase the customer satisfaction and demand in this country. (AGMC Rolls Royce, n.d.) Jumeirah Hotels and Resorts The Jumeirah group is the leading hotels division and is one of the most luxurious and innovative targeting the rich and famous all across the world. In fact, the Al Tayer group is the first to have license to operate Harvey Nicholas outside UK and Bloomingdale outside USA. (Arabian Adventures, n.d.) TASK TWO PESTEL Analysis of trend and changes that will give rise to niche market opportunities in the next three years in UAE The PESTEL Analysis will be used to analyse the trends and changes. A detailed description and definition of PESTEL has been included in Appendix 1 for reference. The PESTEL model looks into the macroenvironment by looking into the following factors for consideration: POLITICAL: The UAE has a very stable political environment and even though there is no democracy, the rulers have clear and established laws and policies which are favorable for attracting businesses and investment from abroad. This country has zero income tax and so is the reason for attracting a lot of investment from abroad. The setup of dedicated industrial, information and telecommunication and university zones encourages people to set up business as well as ensure a ready pool of talented and educated staff/employees are available. ECONOMICAL: The global recession had a negative impact across the globe but UAE in particular was the least affected and hence is amongst the first countries to have successfully come out of it. Energy availability at a cheaper price compared with other countries is also a major factor for various industries to have been setup here as power is available with zero interruption. Interest rates are also low and finance is available at flexible terms in UAE. Due to the recent recession, banks and finances have shifted their attention to Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) with the government also supporting the SME sector. SOCIAL: The UAE population has a higher income per capita and consists of majority of expat population which has come to UAE seeking a better lifestyle. Hence, there is tendency to purchase goods which are considered a luxury back home and improve the lifestyle standards. The UAE is very cultural country and there is freedom for everybody to practice their culture freely, hence a lot of revenue is generated during Islamic festivals as well as Christmas and other such days of respected communities. TECHNOLOGICAL: The UAE government is investing a lot in latest technologies and ensures that the latest is available to the public as well as businesses. In fact, SME businesses are offered for example high internet speeds and bandwidth to encourage them and special incentives are offered to those businesses which adapt green policies and techniques. ENVIORMENTAL: UAE is the largest consumer of treated water and has the highest emissions per capita due to reliance on treated water as it is a desert and air conditioning which takes up a lot of energy. Hence businesses which tend to offer such services using fewer emissions are encouraged as well organic foodstuffs shops have the government backing to ensure healthy and fresh food is available. LEGAL: Clear and precise laws are written which encourage businesses as well as protect employee and employer rights and prevent any abuse. Any new building commercial or residential is required to have solar panel etc. to earn green credentials and be energy efficient or else not seek approval from government. Zero Tax on income and special funds for entrepreneurs and competitions are held to find such ensure that there is positive growth in business every year. Four potential niche markets where small business might flourish The first potential niche market is that of organic produce. As UAE is desert, fruits and vegetables grown here tend to be produced in artificial conditions to ensure cheap supply. By focusing on the health conscious population, and providing organic produce a good small business can be set up which has the potential to grow big if done properly Continuing the green trend, the second market to be considered can be providing solar panels and alternative electricity sources for residential areas. The residents of UAE would like to prefer to reduce their air-conditioning bills and this is a lucrative area to focus. The third niche market can be considered of providing hand stitched luxury goods using exotic materials and ensuring limited supply as there are high margins to be earned in this area due to vast income available for expenditure in high net individuals. As there is vast majority of expats, traditional restaurants can be opened catering to the needs of any particular community as they would love to have traditional home cooked style meals. These do not have to be unnecessarily expensive, as greater profits can be earned through volumes sold. Also the hectic and fast lifestyle will favor the restaurants offering take away as this will save a lot of time for people. TASK THREE Entrepreneur An entrepreneur is an individual who builds up capital, establishes a company or by organizing a venture to take benefitaof an opportunity through risk or exercising an initiative. (Sulliavn, 2003) This word is a loan word from French and first defined by Irish-French economist Richard Cantillon. In other words an entrepreneur can be described as a person who is willing to set up a new organization or enterprise or company and take responsibility of whatever the outcome will be. An entrepreneur leads the company and by selecting appropriate managerial staff displays leadership skills. Good sturdy management skills and the ability to build teams are essential qualities required Entrepreneurs emerge on demand as they seek opportunities and are well placed to achieve them and by doing so become leaders as they perceive that they amongst the few present who can analyses and solve the problems. Social composition of workplace and workplace peers are the most significant influence in an individuals decision to become entrepreneur. According to economist Joseph Alois Schumpeter (1883-1950), entrepreneursaare not necessarily motivated by profit butaregard it as a standard for measuring achievement or success. Schumpeter discovered that they greatly value self-reliance, strive for distinction through excellence, are highly optimistic, and always favor challenges of medium risk. (Business Dictionary, n.d.) There are various types of entrepreneurs, Social Entrepreneur who seeks to improve social, environmental, educational and economic conditions, Serial Entrepreneur who continuously comes up new ideas and innovations, Lifestyle Entrepreneur who places passion before profit and Cooperative Entrepreneur who doesnt works alone but works in collaboration with other entrepreneurs amongst others. Entrepreneurship. The American Heritage Dictionary defines entrepreneur, to mean A person withinaa large corporation who takes directaresponsibility for turning an idea into a profitable finished product through assertive risk-taking and innovation. Entrepreneurs focus on research, innovation and creativity to transform an idea into a profitable venture while working within an organizational or such environment. Entrepreneurship is the act of behaving like an entrepreneur while working within a large organization. Entrepreneurs share theasame traits as entrepreneurs such as conviction, zeal and insight andaas the entrepreneur continuesato expresses his ideasavigorously, it will reveal the gap between the philosophy of the organization and the employee. If the organization supports him in pursuing his ideas, he succeeds and if not he is likely to leave and start his own organization. How the role of manager differs from that of an entrepreneur or an entrepreneur? An entrepreneur starts a business to fulfill his vision and has a personal stake in the business and takes the risk of the outcome whereas the manager provides his service in an organization already established by someone. An entrepreneur provides idea, a new solution to a problem, new idea whereas the manager in in charge of running the company, probably in the direction set by the entrepreneur or entrepreneur. There is a differenceain standing; an entrepreneur is the owner of the company whereas the manager is an employee of the entrepreneur or his company. Also an entrepreneur is not induced to fall into fraudulent behavior whereas a manager might do so possibly to earn more or in coercion with rival firms. An entrepreneuradeals with faults and failures as a part of learning experience where asaa manageramake every effort to avoid mistakes and he postpones failure. Entrepreneur is required to have certain qualifications and qualities like highaaccomplishment motive, innovative thinking, aforethought, risk-bearing ability etc. Conversely its mandatory for a manager to be educated in the fields of managementatheories and practices. An entrepreneur can be a manager but a manager cannot be an entrepreneur. (Cite HR: Padma Praveen, 2007) TASK FOUR As a sole trader setting up a small niche market business, online technologies will definitely be needed to be utilized to reach out to the target audience as well as achieve a greater share of the market than otherwise possible. After all, only a certain amount of foot traffic will come into the shop and does not guarantee good sales. In fact, in this modern age one does not even need to upon a retail front or shop and utilizing the Amazon business model run a successful business by just using networking. The web will be the primary method to advertise the companys products as it is the most cost effective method to reach a wider audience. Most frequented websites such as news websites and social media websites can be contacted to place tickers, or banner advertisements on them respectively which can ensure appropriate audience is reached. However the best way to utilize the web is to set up a website which not only displays the company products, gives contact numbers but also gives the opportunity to buy products online. This is the best way to jump start a business without even opening a shop front. Optimum online security will be needed to put in place to ensure that credit/debit card details are not lost and customers feel comfortable in using this facility. Also other payment methods such as PayPal can be used to offer wider opportunities. Cash on delivery can also be offered and some sort of loyalty program can be implemented to encourage sales and increase customer loyalty and bring customers back. Accounts or pages can be made on social media websites like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn etc. which will help reach out to the younger generation and increase customer base. Constant updates and status changes will help generate hype about products being offered as well as online polls can be utilized to decide which colour or product type needs to be launched. This will ensure no bad inventory ends up at the end of every season. Also this will give the customers and potential clients to freely interact with the business and have their queries answered and any complaints resolved directly. This will further improve the brand image and increase sales. Mobile phones are a good medium to advertise the services and products and after paying a fee, set people can be sent SMSs or targeted with a certain income structure and so further increase the chance of guarantying a sale. Also with this modern age where internet is readily available on mobile phones and social media access everyone has, by utilizing such sites as mentioned before a greater audience can be targeted without any additional costs. These technologies definitely make existence easier for small and niche market businesses as the biggest advantage is of cost savings made. Just a small capital is needed and a upfront shop or display area is not necessarily required to start a business and run it. In fact using online marketing strategies a greater market share can be achieved as well as greater customer base targeted. Companies like Amazon have been widely successful using such online marketing techniques; they stared off small targeting niche markets and due to rapid growth became large organizations. Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) Essay -- ADHD ADD Parent

Parenting is something that no-one person is an expert and that no expert can tell you how to do it. If a person’s child is an absolute angel, does nothing wrong, and gets straight A’s; parenting still is difficult. When a child has a disorder such as ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactive disorder), the child needs much more from the parent than most parents bargain for. Parenting roles for a child with ADHD change greatly; from the time that a parent needs to spend helping the child tie their shoe, or taking the child out for a run in the park. ADHD is not a very easy concept to define, that being because there is no medical proof that the disorder exists. There is no test or questionnaire a child can take to prove that he/she is suffering from this disorder. â€Å"There are no objective diagnostic criteria for ADHD – no physical symptoms, no neurobiological signs, and no blood test. Despite claims to the contrary, there are no brain scans findings and no biochem ical imbalances. No physical test can be done to verify that a child has ADHD†(Breggin 144). A child taking drugs that suffers from ADHD has many side affects that come along with it. Side affects that a parents needs to be aware of, and educated about so they can be taken care of the right way. Over the past 10-20 years, the use of Ritalin in this country has jumped to extreme levels. It is odd to think that maybe it is not advancements in testing for this disorder, or a question of being able to solve a problem that cannot be solved. It is that parents don’t have the time or the effort to spend with their children. The age is approaching when women will be as independent financially as men are. It has forever been accustomed for women to stay at home and care for the children of a family. Now there are women who want to establish their careers, but it is impossible for them to do that with a child to take care of. A parent with an ADHD child must altar their normal wa y of parenting, even if the parent had previous kids that were normal.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  A question that is frequently asked and is yet, almost impossible to answer is, â€Å"what is ADHD?† â€Å"Attention-deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a neuropsychological impairment experienced by some 2 million children-3 to 5% of the school-age population.†(Seagal 263) The symptoms that exist with ADHD vary from day to day and from situation to situation. Some symptoms a... ...lem quickly. Thinking about what the fast food is doing for your health, much as thinking about what Ritalin is doing for your child, it is rarely thought about. Yet, eating fast food quick fixes your hunger, just like Ritalin quick fixes your child’s problems at school.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  ADHD is a very difficult and confusing disorder to deal with when it comes to your children. It is hard to establish is looking out a window or active behavior is just natural for your child, or if your child has a problem. Many drugs can help a child settle down and concentrate better. These drugs should be used for a temporary purpose only; where the goal is to be able to function properly without taking them. Parents and children all have a difficult time dealing with ADHD. It takes time and a lot of hard work between the child and the parents. â€Å"While parenting is the hardest job of them all, there’s no hope for our children unless parents retake responsibility from the â€Å"experts† and determine for themselves to take the most sensible, effective, and loving approach to their children. We may seek professional guidance but we must never relinquish parental intuition, common sense, or love.†(Breggin 288)
